NOTE: Travel Teams:
- Travel season if Fall/Spring of each year
- All travel players must tryout
- Tryouts are held annually (April/May)
- New teams (U8) announce tryouts on the website and during Rec programs
- Existing teams - contact Coach for dates
- All coaches are volunteers (unpaid)
- All coaches must complete "Kidsafe" check
- All coaches are announced AFTER tryouts have concluded
- Returning coaches are reviewed by HSC Executive Board after each season and
prior to being allowed to conduct a tryout
- Tryouts are competitive in nature and open to all
- Players are not guaranteed equal playing time as determined by each coach
- Tryouts are free for all teams (NO CHARGE)
- Parents are EXPECTED to be model citizens
- Spectators should applaud for good play for both sides and enjoy the game (or
be silent)
- Parents unfamiliar with the rules of the game should email club about Parents
overview course "How to watch a Youth Soccer Game" (All Welcome)
- Coaches are responsible for any fine and/or spectator behavior
- Parents are asked to wait 24-48 hours before approaching a coach about an
on-field decision regarding anything unless immediate concern for a child's safety is
at risk (i.e.time played, position played, etc)
- According to league rules, Coaches/Parents should voice their opinions through
the club rather than to the SJSL/SJGSL leagues directly
- According to USSF/NJYS rules any professional coach trainer (paid
coach/paid trainer/etc) must be licensed/insured as such. The license and
insurance issued to "carded" volunteer coaches is NOT the same as the
requirements for a paid coach/trainer. Before commencing any training,
proof of appropriate coverage must be filed with HSC (NJYS paid coach
coverage or equal). No exceptions. As a parent, ask your coach prior to
allowing a paid trainer to work with your child - "is the trainer insured as a
paid coach?"
- Trainers desiring to work should contact HSC directly for possible
engagements with travel teams and/or Rec program teams.
